This was our very first series, a radio premium originally given away over the airwaves to promote our Mystery Playhouse radio series. These are different from the color series sold boxes, as these are in dark duotone. (And there are far fewer: Just 966 numbered sets made.) The backs profile the most popular sci-fi and horror series of radio's golden era. A special sub set profiles favorite writers who's works were commonly translated to radio (like Poe, Lovecraft, Wells, etc.) And another subset provides short terrifying tales designed to tantalize!
