"But we're ALL immigrants!"

Well, actually, that's not true. About 90% of Americans are NOT immigrants and are native born. But we know what they're trying to suggest. They want us to feel guilty about the fact that we're descended from Immigrants, and therefore, we should always have open borders forever and ever.

It's a ridiculous argument if you think about it. First off, our ancestors were LEGAL immigrants. And that's all we're asking for in today's environment. LEGAL immigrants are welcome, and we already allow about 1 million of them per year, a more generous amount than any other country. It's the ones who cheat and break our laws to invade our country that we do NOT welcome and should not reward with citizenship.

So yes, we're all descended from LEGAL immigrants. It's a proud tradition we should and do continue. But with hundreds of millions of people who want to move here, it's unfair and unwise to let people cut in line by lying about their status, cheating Uncle Sam with forged documents, and break our laws by entering the country illegally.

Uncontrolled immigration matters, and Americans should know that better than anyone else. Just as the Indians what open borders can do.
