Haunted houses in Tallahassee have opened their doors for the season and owners are waiting to shake people up for Halloween.

While people pay to be scared half to death, the entertainment may be well worth it.

At the Terror of Tallahassee, located at 826 Gaines St., a multitude of people were entertained nightly.

"The crowds love it," said Roger Williams, an actor at the Terror of Tallahassee. "There's a lot of screaming, and a lot of laughing."

Williams, who plays the role of a petrifying monster, said there has been a mixed crowd of people visiting the house, and said about 80 percent of the visitors on Tuesday were students.

"I was scared the whole time," said Aaliyah Parker, 23, a junior pharmacy student from Philadelphia.

Parker, who visited the house on Wednesday night, said the scariest part of the Terror was the maze and people jumping out at her.

"It was dark and foggy," said Parker. "You couldn't see anything and the maze was arranged so that you had to find your way out."

Debbie Tanner, the owner of the Terror of Tallahassee also added that there was a diverse crowd, which included families and high school kids.

"Most of what we've heard is pretty positive," Tanner said. "My own stepdaughters went through it and they had a blast."

The Terror of Tallahassee opens at 7 p.m. and closes after the last enters. The house is open this year from Oct. 17 to Nov. 1.

"It (the house) goes until the last 'victim' has entered," Tanner said.

Admission for the Terror of Tallahassee is $9 with a costume, $10 without a costume, and $12 on Halloween.

Meanwhile, at the Tallahassee Museum, the 13th Hour Haunted Trail is spooking up things by taking its visitors through a trail of horror.

Jennifer Golden, the director of education at the museum said people would run into things they would think of when you think about Halloween.

"We've got a variety of characters out on the trail," said Golden. "The trail takes about 30 minutes to go through it."

Golden said while visitors stand in line old horror movies will be playing, and food and concession vendors will be available for those wanting to fill their appetites.

"This is our ninth year-this is a scary walk through the woods and we hope people will enjoy," said Golden. "We want people to have a scary but fun time."

The 13th Hour Haunted Trail, located at 3945 Museum Dr., will be open on Oct. 30 and 31 from 8-11 p.m. The trail will cost $6 for museum members and $7 for non-members.
