Zombie Attacks

Zombie Apocalypse Coming To Tallahassee!

CD Davidson-Hiers, Tallahassee Democrat July 27, 2017

The apocalypse is near – the undead are coming to Tallahassee in September.

The Apocalypse World Tour brings its zombies to the Terror of Tallahassee at 1408 Lake Bradford Road Sept. 1 and 2. Tickets go on sale online noon Friday.

The touring event began in 2012 at a haunted house attraction in Tucson, Arizona, appropriately named the Slaughterhouse. According to Bobby Sutton, CEO of Apocalypse Global, interest in the zombie laser tag event has grown "exponentially" since its inception. The zombie business is family-owned and operated.

Sutton is currently traveling in Europe with the overseas Apocalypse Tour.

"(Apocalypse World Tour) was inspired by my haunted house background and love of 'The Walking Dead,'" he said.

The game visits Tallahassee following the death this month of George Romero, the director of 1968 cult classic film, "Night of the Living Dead."

Apocalypse's zombie laser tag is organized like a live-action video game. Teams of four to five members are trained on and armed with replica military-training tactical weapons and sent into a building with a set designed to look like the scene of a zombie infestation. The realistic replica firearms have a recoil and a muzzle flash.

Once inside, costumed actors wearing headsets that flash red to indicate a hit will attack.

No worries — the zombies are forbidden to bite, though a few may need to be "shot" more than once to be killed.
